Migration Steps

Explanation of the data migration steps

Step I : Prerequisites
Determine the logistical and financial static data that will be needed in ERP LN. For tables, like ‘Terms of Delivery’, or ‘Terms of Payment’ it might be faster to re-enter them than to migrate the data in a technical way. These steps take place in this phase.

Step II : Migration and conversion logistical and financial tables

The logistical and financial data from BaanIV/V is taken and transferred to ERP LN.
Two scenarios will be possible:
-           1. Data will be taken to ERP LN without any changes made to that data. This will usually be the case.
-           2. Data will be converted to the easybaan® standards.
Some tables are predefined in the easbaan® template company to guarantee complete processes in ERP LN right from the beginning. If the data is coded differently in Baan IV/V a conversion has to take place. I.e. if the item group RAW01 is used for raw materials in Baan IV/V and the ERP LN easybaan® template uses R01 as the item group for raw materials the data has to be converted from RAW01 to R001. This conversion takes places while the data is imported.

Milestone : Entering Common Data

If the previous steps have been completed successfully it should be easily possible to enter items, business partner, bill-of-materials and so on.

Step III : Migration of product and business partner related data.

Items, bills-of-material, routings, tasks, business partners, etc. are imported in this step.
While importing this data conversions to the easybaan® standards take place. So it is made sure the dynamic data can be entered.

Milestone Entering Dynamic Data

Once the import of the necessary common data has taken place successfully it is possible to enter open orders (sales, purchase, production, etc.) or enter financial transactions in Finance. Only if it is possible to enter this data manually the dynamic data will be migrated automatically (???)

Step  IV : Migration of Dynamic Data

In this step open sales orders, purchase orders, production orders, item inventory, open entries in ACR and ACP, and ledger account balances are transferred over. As part of this step a conversion takes place of predetermined tables in the easybaan® template company. To check the success of this step, comparisons will be made between Baan IV/V and ERP LN.

Milestone : Process Dynamic Data

Once all static and dynamic data has been migrated over your new ERP LN environment is ready to go. All orders can be processed and the migrated open orders can be completed. Only if this is possible and needed the historical data out of Baan IV/V can be transferred to ERP LN.

Step V : Migration of Historical Data

For future use, historical data might be helpful for making decisions, or checking the trends in turnover with customers or suppliers. So, historical data is taken to ERP LN too.

Milestone : Comparison of Historical Data in BaanVI and ERP LN

After the migration of historical data for sales and purchase statistics a comparison can be made between Baan IV/V and ERP LN.
